In Touch With Zizipho Also Known As 'ZiziTheFoodie' Blogger

In conversation with the bubbly, ambitious, confident, opinionated, warm hearted (sometimes soft) and fun loving Zizipho. Most of us know her for her great cooking skills that she often shares with us on her social media platforms.

Let’s get to know who Zizipho really is……….
She was born in a small town in Eastern Cape called Mthatha but got to spend most of her life in the Mother City, Cape Town. Zizipho shared that growing up for her was pretty amazing, even though her parents separated when she was only 4 years, her mother made her childhood nothing short of amazing. “I didn’t feel like I was in a single parent household. I think it is mainly because of my mother’s efforts, my father was still a part of my life and my granny was my safe haven. So I enjoyed it”, said the Xhosa Princess.

Zizi’s parents played a huge role in her career choice….
Initially she wanted to study Law but her parents strongly advised her to do Bcom and she naturally followed that route, little did she know that she will end up enjoying it this much. “So I started off in Asset Consulting and I really enjoyed that as no day was the same. Markets perform in the most unexpected ways at times and with my willingness to learn that was perfect as I learnt a lot and got to improve my way of thinking when it came to such things. I then decided to move to large corporate where I focused on a different type of consulting. I love working with people so that was one thing I knew I was not going to move away from. I learnt a lot about myself and gained a lot of emotional intelligence. It wasn’t always pleasant but it is definitely something I don’t regret going into,” said Zizi.

Zizi is a people’s person and her dedication and willingness to always wanting to get involved landed her a Leadership Exchange program in America, New York University. The program was aimed at developing the way of thinking of the future leaders on campus. “I saw it as an opportunity to see how people live with each other around the world and how I can get people to interact.”

It doesn’t stop there….
Early this year in February Zizi changed jobs and moved to telecommunications as the financial service was as not challenging anymore. It was all encouraged by a guy called Mark Sham, “he came to give a few talks at work with regards to how the world is changing and the upcoming fourth industrial revolution” and Zizi has really learned a lot

What is that one thing about yourself that surprised you and never thought you had capabilities of?
The way I have managed to step out of my comfort zone and handle certain situations. I wasn’t always this confident and head strong. Standing up for myself became important to me and I have made sure that I do it in my work and personal life. It surprised me really. I think doing debating and public speaking from primary school played a part in this.

Zizi loves her cooking space and shares more with us about it…..
“Well it started off as something I was doing for fun and then a few people kept asking why I don’t start my own blog. After being asked a lot of times I finally did it. ZiziTheFoodie went live in November 2017. I now try out new recipes and blog about them, cook for people (this is something new), check out new restaurants and write about them (also something new) and my latest baby is my intimate wine tasting session. The plan is to have one every month and also turn it into a food and wine pairing session. But baby steps!”

……And she is also a sucker for wine, here is her top 5 favourite wines:
Hmmm… Here’s my top 5 in no particular order:
1.       Meerlust - Rubicon
2.       Rupert & Rothschild – Classique
3.       Warwick – The First Lady Cabernet Sauvignon
4.       Warwick – Chardonnay
5.       Beyerskloof – Synergy Cape Blend

What can you tell your 18 year old self? If there is one thing you wish to go back and do better at it, what would it be?
I would tell my 18 year old self “Girl, you’re in for a surprise. Your life is not going to go exactly the way you planned it.”

Honestly? Nothing. As I would not be the person I am today. And I love the person I am.

…And that’s it for us today! It’s always beautiful to watch young black women winning in life and working hard every day to achieve all their dreams. #BerekaMosadi #MondayMotivation #BlackExcellence #BlackGirlMagic
